Franklin County’s Finance department is keeping its tradition of maintaining high standards of financial reporting.

For the 22nd consecutive year, the county has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). This year’s award was based on the annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021.

“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” a release from GFOA said.
Franklin County has been awarded this designation every year since 1999.

Reports are judged by an impartial panel that ensures that the county shows a spirit of disclosure in communicating its financial story and motivating others to read the report.
