FOIA Request to Person County Election Department Regarding Information on Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at North Triangle News have sent a request under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. ยง132-1., to the Person County Election Department. The request was sent with the aim of obtaining a list of all candidates running in the upcoming election.

The information requested includes not only the full names of the candidates but also the offices they are running for and their respective jurisdictions. In addition, we’ve asked for details regarding each candidate’s party affiliation.

Furthermore, we have sought contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

Access to public records is essential for us at North Triangle News as it enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
