The North Carolina House of Representatives has overridden Governor Josh Stein’s vetoes on three significant bills, according to statements made by Matthew Winslow, a Republican member representing the state’s 7th House district since 2021.

On July 29, 2025, Winslow announced that “The NC House of Representatives OVERRIDES the Governor’s veto of SB 266 – The Power Bill Reduction Act. This bill is expected to lower energy costs by approximately $15 billion for North Carolina families and businesses. Families shouldn’t have to decide between paying for food”.

Shortly after, he posted another update regarding education policy: “The NC House of Representatives OVERRIDES Josh Stein’s veto of SB 254- Charter School Changes Act. School choice shouldn’t be just for the wealthy or well-connected. The working class deserves to have school choice for their children, too. #ncpol #ncgop”.

Winslow also addressed privacy concerns in his third post: “The NC House of Representatives OVERRIDES Josh Stein’s veto of SB 416 – Personal Privacy Protection Act, a bill that aims to safeguard North Carolinians’ privacy. #ncpol #ncgop”.

Matthew Winslow has served in the North Carolina State House since 2021 after replacing Lisa Barnes as representative for the 7th district.
