The North Carolina Enrollment Broker is organizing a series of virtual educational sessions focused on Medicaid. These two-hour events will include presentations from all North Carolina Managed Care health plans, as well as a tailored plan. The sessions also feature guidance from the NC Medicaid Ombudsman and provide information on how to choose and use a health plan, available benefits, and other relevant topics. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions in real time during a live Q&A segment.
The December 2025 schedule includes two sessions: the first on Tuesday, December 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the second on Thursday, December 11 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Interested individuals can join either session online or by phone.
These educational opportunities are being offered at a time when student readiness for college remains an important issue in Franklin County schools. In the 2022-23 school year, only about 14.9% of senior students in Franklin County school districts were considered ready for college in science according to ACT results, while just over 13% of juniors met that benchmark (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/). For reading, nearly 24% of seniors and around 22.5% of juniors were deemed college-ready (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/). Math scores showed lower readiness rates, with only about 12.7% of seniors and roughly 10.9% of juniors achieving college-ready status (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/).
The upcoming Medicaid Education Series aims to provide families with resources and support that may help address some of these broader challenges by improving access to healthcare information.
