Shiplap & Sage, a home fragrance and lifestyle manufacturer based in Franklinton, North Carolina, has announced an expansion of its operations in Franklin County. Founded in 2021 by Melinda Englehart, the company has grown to offer products in more than six states and will invest in new equipment, facility upgrades, and expanded operations in the area.
The expansion will take place in two phases, totaling an estimated $325,000 in capital investment. The first phase will focus on upgrading to semi-automated production equipment, adding specialized inventory shelving, and enhancing warehouse space. The second phase will involve equipping a new 2,000-3,000 square-foot manufacturing and fulfillment facility within Franklin County. As a result, Shiplap & Sage expects to create three part-time and three full-time positions.

Franklin County’s school districts have reported that among senior students taking the ACT in the 2022-23 school year, 14.9% were considered ready for college in science, 23.9% in reading, and 12.7% in math. Among junior students, 13.1% were considered ready for college in science, 22.5% in reading, and 10.9% in math (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/).
