Partial budget bills have made their way to Gov. Roy Cooper's desk, despite an overall budget still not agreed upon between lawmakers and the governor.
The Center Square reported that bills that would provide money for juvenile justice and rural technology and one to fund the Department of Transportation (DOT) made their way to Cooper's desk last week.
The bills would unlock funds to expand the state's rural broadband grant program so that it can continue; provide funding for highway maintenance, airport spending and employee salaries within the DOT; and up the number of district attorneys, judges and staff that would support a new juvenile justice law set to go into effect on Dec. 1.
The Senate expects another bill to make its way to Cooper's desk next week after it's approved. That bill would provide funding for 58 colleges across the state.
