CITY OF ROXBORO: Person County EOC Activated for COVID-19

City of Roxboro issued the following announcement on Mar. 17.

Person County EOC Activated for COVID-19

Person County, NC- Yesterday, March 16, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. Person County Government issued

a Declaration of Emergency and has increased its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to

“operations level” to respond to the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the United States and State

of North Carolina.

The Emergency Operations Center’s (EOC) present role is to monitor the situation, support the

Health Department and other local government, educational, healthcare, and law enforcement

partners, coordinate responses, and secure resources needed for this emergency along with being

the County and City liaison with State and Federal Emergency Management.

The County Manager has been attending Health Department planning meetings and keeping the

County Commissioners informed. County and City Government personnel and other response

partners’ personnel are reporting to the EOC and working in their respective Emergency Support

Functions (ESF). The EOC is managed by the Person County Office of Emergency Management

within the Department of Emergency Services.

The County has activated the Joint Information Center (JIC), which will share information and

instructions with our citizens through the local media, the county website, and social media

outlets. The County’s Emergency Notification System (Code Red) will be used for immediate

information.

Residents and those who work in Person County are urged to go online and sign up today for

these alerts by visiting the County’s web page, www.personcountync.gov and clicking “Code

Red” under the What’s New section and following @PCALERTS on Twitter.
