North Carolina Senate President Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) alleged in June that the votes of state Senate Democrats go against the best interests of residents.

"Over the past month, the actions of Senate Democrats raised serious questions as to whether they’re for or against everyday North Carolinians," Berger said in a post to his Medium press website on June 29.

The Republican senator shared a list of votes Democrats made against legislation such as $500 million for additional Medicaid funding, raises and bonuses for teachers, the 2nd Amendment protection act and grant funding for communities and military installations among other proposals.

The list Berger linked to on his website does show that Democrats did support some of the measures. For example, a bill to open amusement parks, arcades and venues was fully supported by Republicans and seven Democrats.

"Time and again they’ve voted against opportunities to reopen businesses safely that have been arbitrarily shuttered by Gov. Roy Cooper," Berger said on his website.
