Cost of college went down for resident students at Piedmont Community College

In-state tuition and fees fell 0.1 percent for 2018-19 at Piedmont Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

North Carolina residents paid $2,544 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $3 less than the $2,547 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 241.6 percent more than residents this year, or $8,691. Their price tag was unchanged from $8,691 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are North Carolina residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 61 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 64 students received grants or scholarships totaling $347,954.

Including all undergraduates (1,287), 513 students used grants or scholarships totaling $2.6 million.
