City of Creedmoor issued the following announcement on Sept 18.
The Creedmoor Police Department recently donated twelve expired bulletproof vests to the Vance-Granville Community College (VGCC) Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program. This donation provides a valuable resource to the next generation of law enforcement in Creedmoor as well as Granville, Vance, and Warren counties.
Though the vests were no longer warrantied for use by the Creedmoor Police Department, the VGCC BLET program will be able to use these expired vests for training exercises for enrolled recruits. According to Alonzo James, Director of the VGCC BLET program, “this donation allows us to transition recruits without any budgetary restrictions, and the VGCC BLET program would like to express our utmost appreciation to the City of Creedmoor and the Creedmoor Police Department.”
The donation of expired vests is just one way that Police Chief Keith King and the rest of the Creedmoor Police Department work to support the development of law enforcement in our region. The Creedmoor Police Department maintains a productive working relationship, and provides mutual aid, to nearby jurisdictions for large events and emergencies. Making sure the next generation of law enforcement is ready to fill those shoes is a key component to keeping Creedmoor safe. “We value our relationship with the VGCC BLET program, and we know the education these recruits are receiving at VGCC will prepare them for successful careers in law enforcement in Creedmoor as well as other agencies throughout our region,” said Police Chief Keith King. “We are always looking for ways to assist with the professional development of these local BLET recruits. Their success is our success.”
