COUNTY OF PERSON: New Public Transportation Director

County of Person issued the following announcement on Feb. 18.

Person County Government is pleased to announce that Mitch Fleig will serve as the county’s new Public Transportation Director. In this role, he will lead the Person Area Transportation System (PATS) and plan, develop and implement transportation services for the residents of Person County. PATS provides transportation for various human services agencies, the elderly, people with disabilities and the general public. 

After a competitive interview process, Mr. Fleig was selected by a team of government and community leaders for his experience in management and transportation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from NC State University. His experience includes 28 years as Vice President of Fleig Leasing, Inc. where he was responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and supervising employees, developing and implementing a driver safety program, performing accounting functions, and serving as safety director for over-the-road truck drivers, including DOT compliance. Most recently, he has worked as the store manager for Russell Cellular and N Touch Wireless in Roxboro. 

Mr. Fleig is a native of Person County. His interests and volunteer activities include amateur radio (WD4CFC), audio visual team, computers, photography, Roxboro Little League and Roxboro American Legion Baseball. He is a welcome addition to the leadership team of the county and will be an asset to our community and organization in this role.

 Mr. Fleig will report to the Assistant County Manager. In announcing this appointment, Assistant County Manager Katherine Cathey said, “Mitch’s strong background in management and transportation, enthusiasm, and genuine care for the Person County community are a good fit for this position. We look forward to having him on our team.”

 In accepting his new role, Mitch says, “I am excited and grateful to be given this opportunity to serve Person County!”
