County of Granville issued the following announcement on Apr. 11.
Granville County offers the free CodeRED emergency alert system for residents to prepare and respond to emergency situations in their area. Events like the recent search for an armed suspect by the Granville County Sheriff’s Office or severe weather like flooding, thunderstorms, and flooding are a great reminder to utilize this public safety resource. Residents may sign up to receive notifications by text message, email, or phone call when there is an emergency affecting the area where they live or work. To sign up, please visit the Granville County website or text “GRANVILLE” to 99411.
CodeRED is a great way to prepare and protect you and your family with information from Granville County Emergency Management or the Granville County Sheriff’s Office.
ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Notifications are ONLY sent in the event of an emergency (severe weather, missing persons, wildfire alerts, criminal activity, etc.) except for periodic “all-call” system tests.
Notifications are often sent to “targeted” users based on geographic area instead of the entire county-wide database.
When a call is from CodeRED, your phone’s caller ID will display “Emergency Notifications 866-419-5000” or “Emergency Comm.”
If you have a missed call from CodeRED on your caller ID, you can hear the last message delivered by simply dialing the number back.
If you have already signed up for CodeRED through a system run by a different government organization, you are NOT automatically signed up for alerts from Granville County. You must register through the Granville County system to receive alerts from Granville County Emergency Management or the Sheriff’s Office.
