COUNTY OF GRANVILLE: Memorial Grove Dedication Ceremony

County of Granville issued the following announcement on May 2.

The Granville County Board of Commissioners gathered on April 29 to honor the memories of former County Commissioners with the dedication of a new grove of trees to honor their service.

Commissioners honored and years served were: 

L. C. Adcock (1990 – 1998)

J. David Brooks (1984 – 1989)

Richard David “Dave” Currin (1996 – 2016)

Fred “F. M.” Daniel (1992 – 1993)

Dr. L. S. Daniel (1984 – 1988)

Floyd Elliott (1973 – 1984)

Hubert L. Gooch, Jr. (1980, 1998, 2000 – 2012)

Joseph Carr “Joe” Hamme (1968 – 1976)

R. Wayne Newton (1982 – 1990)

Owen T. Roberts (2016 – 2020)

Edgar Smoak (2010 – 2020)

Robert Ed Strother (1989 – 1997)

Bobby W. Young (1993 – 1996)

 We invite you to visit the new memorial grove at the GAP and reflect on the lives of public service by these individuals. The memorial grove is located near the main entrance of the GAP adjacent to the large soccer fields and the butterfly garden near Belltown Road.
