TOWN OF WAKE FOREST: Unplugged & free concert Sunday at Joyner Park

Town of Wake Forest issued the following announcement on Sept. 5.

The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources (PRCR) Advisory Board will host the 12th Annual "Wake Forest Unplugged...Get Connected" this Sunday, Sept. 11, from 5-7 p.m. at E. Carroll Joyner Park, 701 Harris Road.

Wake Forest Unplugged invites area residents to disconnect from their smart phones, computers, and other electronic devices and reconnect with their community, friends, and family by engaging in healthier, more active pursuits. From 5-7 p.m., the PRCR Advisory Board will host a variety of organized games and activities, including sack and relay races, corn hole, and miniature golf, in the vicinity of the Walker Garden.

The electronics-free afternoon will culminate from 5:30-7:30 p.m. with a free concert in the Joyner Park Amphitheater featuring Heads Up Penny – a five-piece band with influences rooted in Blues, Rock, Country, Funk, Americana, and Soul.

As part of Sunday’s event, several food and dessert trucks are scheduled to be onsite, including Lumpy’s Ice Cream, Kona Ice, Goodness GraceUs, and Peyton's Place BBQ.

Attendees are invited to bring a picnic, leashed pets, blanket, or lawn chair, and enjoy the music. However, alcoholic beverages, smoking, and unleashed pets are prohibited at Joyner Park.
