COUNTY OF FRANKLIN: Commissioners take oaths + Emergency Services participates in parades + More broadband resources

County of Franklin issued the following announcement on Dec. 5.

Louisburg, N.C. - Monday night's meeting was short but the celebrations started early.

A few hours before the meeting began, the Board of Commissioners had a swearing-in ceremony for commissioners that won election in November. Commissioners Harry Foy and David Bunn along with new member, Roxanne Bragg, took their oaths of office from District Court Judge John Davis at Franklin Plaza.

Elections were still on the mind of commissioners when 7 p.m. rolled around as the first item on the agenda was to elect officers for the board. Chairman Michael S. Schriver was re-elected to another term as chairman along with Bunn also being re-elected as Vice Chairman.

Working through a short agenda, the board appointed Kevin Alford to a three-year term on the Board of Health to fill the engineering position.  A vacancy remains on the board for a dentist.

Commissioners received an update on the Public Safety Radio System from Ken Steere of Williams Communications. Steere reported that the project had recent success securing variances needed for construction.

Monday's meeting was the board's only meeting in December. Commissioners will reconvene on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
