County of Caswell issued the following announcement on Oct. 28.
Annual Salary: $33,948
This position will report directly to Tele-Communicator Director. All work will be performed under general supervision of the Tele-Communicator Director through periodic conferences, inspections, review of reports, files and appropriate audits and walk-throughs.
General Statement of Duties: This person will be in charge of all training for the entire center. He/she will oversee training new employees, keeping up with continuing education certificates, and DCI certifications and recertification. In addition, this person will be expected to complete quality assurance for specified calls each month. The training/TAC Officer will also be required to perform other duties as required by the Director.
Description of Work:
In addition to the above training responsibilities within the department this position will be responsible for all communications, including but not limited to, all incoming calls, radio, computer and teletype messages, dispatching emergency units where and when appropriate, front desk operations and other assigned tasks pursuant to the department’s rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Knowledge of basic office machines
· Ability to deal courteously with public and responders
· Ability to operate under stressful situations
· Must speak clearly
· Ability to work various shifts including weekends and holidays
· Ability to work 12 hour rotating shifts
· Ability to multi-task
Training and Experience Requirements:
· Graduation from High School or GED
· Two years’ experience in emergency services communications or two years’ experience
in a related field
· Must complete tele-communicator certification
· Must complete DCI and EMD certifications
· Must complete EMD certification
· Must be able to physically perform basic life functions
· Must stay up to date on all operations that fall under the TAC Officers responsibilities
Physical Requirements
· Work may involve light to medium force occasionally, in filing and storing documents.
· Employee must have the physical agility to move about freely.
· Employee must be able to sit for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time) while answering 9-1-1 calls at the same time as entering data into the 9-1-1 systems.
· Employee must have visual acuity to be able to read, write and comprehend handwritten and typed material.
· An employee in this class must be able to talk and hear in order to respond effectively to the public and other employees.
